What to expect at this year's "3rd INTERNATIONAL
YACHTING SYMPOSIUM 2004", Poros Greece! During
the B2B event on the 9-13th of May in POROS, one can expect
a series of lavish fetes and happenings. The first being a
striking array of MEGA yachts lined up in
the POROS marina which has been extended to accommodate over
50, sleek motor and sailing yachts and 12
exhibition stands of Greek Yacht Brokers. This year's event
will be opened with a VIP reception hosted by the Mayor of
Poros on the grounds of the posh, nineteenth century Naval
Academy overlooking the harbor.
The Symposium's Forum will address the "Update
on the Status of Yachting in Greece" and "Greek
Islands as a Yachting Destination" to name a
few. Additionally, treats such as the Gourmet Chef
Competition will be sizzling with heated competition
and no doubt, fabulous culinary delights! The hot question
is, who will take the "Golden Spoon Award"
for 2004.
NEW to this year's event, will be a Wine
Tasting Forum entitled, "Understanding
Greek Wine". The wine forum will be with Wine
Master, Nico Manessis. The two-hour wine tasting
of various Greek vintages will incorporate an 'Island Theme'
complementary to "The Greek Islands as a Yachting Destination".
Details for visiting island and coastal vineyards will of
course, be provided. Topics covered are Greek wine varieties,
regions and styles. Experts will discuss and disseminate know-how
on how to properly taste, purchase, store and collect wine.
This year's tasting will highlight a select presentation of
exclusive Greek vintages for the sophisticated and discriminating
palette.
Wine Master, Nico Manessis' experience includes vineyard
management, wine production, marketing and fine wine advisory
services which span Europe and the U.S.A. with more than 20
years experience. He is the author of the "Illustrated
Greek Wine Book" and has contributed to numerous
books including the "Sotheby's Wine Guide". He is
a member of the Academie Internationale du Vin and resides
in Geneva, Switzerland.
Other festivities for 2004 will include Traditional Greek
Dances, excursions to the ancient theater of Epidaurus and
Mycanae Palace and finally, a Leisurely Cruise on select Mega
Yachts back to Athens!
The 3IYS2004 is organized by the Hellenic
Yacht Brokers Association (HYBA) and the Hellenic
Professional Yacht Owners Association (HPYOA), Coordinated
